Lessons for the VO?
The political infighting and deal making inside the VO is small potatoes compared to what goes on out in the real world and I think Tim Bray's post on why you shouldn't invent XML languages, along with the companion article on XML language design, should be required reading for VO developers. He says a lot of the stuff I've been banging my fist on the table about much better than I ever have in meetings...
