You sometimes see an
open source project and you have to ask yourself why they did that, but sometimes you see something and you realise that its just solved a problem that you didn't know you had yet. I've just stumbled across
perlVNC (via
Tao of Mac), it's a pure
Perl implementation of the
VNC protocol. Funnily enough, it's exactly what I didn't know I was looking for...
Do let me know if you do anything with it - I stumbled upon it by accident while looking for the RFB protocol specs, and it spawned an entire discussion regarding real-time monitoring of system statistics... :)
