Mark Jason Dominus can usually be relied on to say something interesting about Perl. So I was excited to see that his new book Higher Order Perl, about how to write functions that manufacture or modify other functions, has just been published. This is something I do, somewhat, inside the eSTAR code base. But like a lot of people who came to Perl from C I don't have much background in functional languages like Lisp, so I'm going to be picking up a copy. After all, if Damian Conway says nice things about it, how badly can you loose...
